Retreat on a Whim
November 4th thru November 8th 2026
Come join us for an open retreat in November. The cost is $80 per night with lunch only. We also offer day retreats from 9am to 5:30pm for $45 per day lunch is included. Barn quilt workshop
October 30th 2026 (Friday)
Come join us for a day of paint and fun at Queens Rustic Retreat. Valerie Steele is our instructor and she does a great job in getting the creative juices going. The class starts at 10am and ends at 4pm. The cost of the class is $130 this includes instructor fees, all supplies to include a piece of wood , paints and brushes. All you need to bring is an apron or an old paint shirt, 24in ruler and a blow dryer. Lunch is also included. Scroll down to make a reservation and your group name is Barn Quilt Class. Machine Embroidery Class
Bags in a Hoop
Join us for a fun two-day Machine Embroidery Class on Friday, October 16th and Saturday, October 17th, 2026, at Queens Rustic Retreat!
Ruith Lewis will be our instructor, guiding students through the process of creating this beautiful bag while learning valuable machine embroidery techniques along the way.
Class Supply List
All embroidery machines must be USB compatible. Bring your laptop and a new 2 gig USB thumb drive to class. We will learn how to format the thumb drive and load the design from “Sweet Pea Machine Embroidery”. You can get a 2-gig Scan Disk from Amazon
1 yd main fabric
½ yd contrast fabric
1 yd lining cotton fabric
For this bag, please stick with cotton fabrics. I am using a thin denim with stripped cotton for contrast
½ yd fusible bosal 90” wide
½ yd SF 101 90”
2- 1 ½ square D rings for shape
1 1 ½ square slide buckle for adjustment on strap
2- 14 “bag zippers (we can cut them down to fit)
A roll of Cutaway stabilizer for hooping
Scraps of batting (finally a reason to use up some leftover batting)
Fabric tape for embroidery (I used OESD Expert Embroidery tape tear away)
The largest Hoop your machine uses. (This usually comes with your machine. If not, use the largest hoop you have. That size will determine the size of your bag.)
An Assortment of bright color threads for embroidery designs.
Embroidery applique scissors
Normal sewing supplies-pins, thread, rotary cutter, ruler, etc.
Of course your sewing -embroidery machine
